The Sacred Symbol
"Our pieces are more than just  luxurious accessories. They are a representation of the sacred symbols of the Haitian Vodou spirits, their VEVE and their bold and brillant colors. .

- Malou Beauvoir founder

Conceived by Haitian-American singer-songwriter and actress, Malou Beauvoir, Modern Manbo artfully weaves the sacred symbols of Vodou into luxurious kaftans, coats, and silk scarves. Named after the revered ‘Manbo’, or priestess, in Haitian Vodou, the label is a profound homage to female empowerment and leadership.

Each piece in the Modern Manbo collection embodies a narrative of tradition and innovation, celebrating the timeless essence of femininity and the universal strength of women.

About The Founder

Award Winning Singer. Songwriter. Actress. Businesswoman

"I aim to inspire others by awakening curiosity and encouraging new ideas. Vodou, often misunderstood, honors nature and universal energy. Through my songs, interviews, and garments, I hope to ignite pride and curiosity in young Haitians about their culture and ancestors."

-Malou Beauvoir-

I created MODERN MANBO in celebration of women and our extraordinary strength, beauty and femininity.

A "Manbo" in Haitian Vodou is a priestess. The name Manbo comes from the Fon language (Nanbo) and means "Mother of Magic". As a leader of her spiritual community, she uses her knowledge and intuition to guide her community.

Modern Manbo is a symbol of female empowerment and leadership. Taken beyond the context of the Vodou temple. Our Modern Manbos are the women all over the world who are the central pillars of their households, families, and communities.

Much as my Spiritwalker Collection honors the Haitian Vodou spirits of nature, Modern Manbo honors the exceptional women (our Moms, warriors, visionaries, queens and goddesses) who have inspired and illuminated us from the beginning of time.
